The WW2 Early 20th Century
Scale Vehicle Availability
Many of the companies that provide figures for the period also provide vehicles. So, in a similar vein to the Big WW2 Figure Comparison, I've also decided to add a listing of vehicles... This caused me some problems at first, because the scales commonly accepted by gamers (and manufacturers) vary from about 1:64 to about 1:43, but are all considered "compatible with 28mm figures". I personally don't agree- I think only 1:56th and 1:60th are OK, with 1:56th being my preferred scale, but that's purely my opinion. Admittedly, there is a movement towards 1:56th in the UK, mainly because most of the manufacturers (or at least the ones who have a high turnover) are based. This, and the fact that most of the vehicles I own are in this scale, mean that I won't easily convert to the larger scales.
There is also a loud group (especially in America) who prefer to use 1:50th and 1:48th scale with their 28mm. They also don't mind mixing in 1:43rd scale, which is even larger, proportionally speaking. I personally won't be saying much about these, as they are distinctly visually larger than my collection. That's not to say that I won't review them (if they are sent to me), but it does mean that I won't be spending my hard-earned dosh on them in order to review them- I'd rather buy things I need to expand my collection. This is where the manufacturers would have to convince me to buy! This list includes proper models (i.e. scale models) as well as die cast vehicles (i.e. toy cars).
Mike Reese, however, has consented to let me add his views on these two scales to the site.
Below are listed, in alphabetical order, by category, most of the manufacturers who manufacture vehicles suitable for the 1912-1945 period in 1:56th-1:60th scale I was able to locate after a search of the web. Some may be listed more than once, because they manufacture vehicles suitable for multiple categories.
If you want a more detailed, in-depth review of anything, or contact details for a company, simply click on the pictures of that manufacturer to reach a review dedicated to that specific range.

I had a few of the vehicles on hand for my own purposes, but when I began this project, I needed to get a large number of samples. As we all know, resin kits are not cheap, especially when one starts talking about the number of manufacturers listed below. Because of this, I listed what I had, and will eventually contact all the other manufacturers for samples. This project will not be possible without the help and assistance of the various manufacturers who may donate vehicles. I have made an attempt to list them in the respective reviews, but if I have forgotten, please accept my apologies and thanks.

If you know of a manufacturer I've missed (or ARE a manufacturer I've missed!), feel free to let me know (or send samples and details) and I can add the relevant info...
Of course, I guess I needn't say that any contributions of sample figures would be appreciated, and I'd prefer to have at least three different figures (one to keep as "as delivered", one for "cleaned and based" and one to paint for the last category.

Here is the section dealing with vehicles I personally will be devoting less time to, mainly because (in my opinion) these scales don't fit as well with 28mm figures as they are simply too big.
Here's Mike Reese's Bren Carrier comparison featuring three "1:48th" models compared with a 1:56th and a 1:60th model.
