Stated Scale: 25mm square bases.
Mixes best with: Generic.
Long Review: I must admit that I've never heard of Black Cat Bases before. While visiting Bovington I saw their stand, and had to make some inquiries. They've apparently been around for a while- and they have a really extensive range of bases and accessories.
The sheer variety is impressive, and when you add the fact that the bases can be cast up in any colour required, and any mix can be supplied, the deal becomes irresitible. The prices are also reasonable, and the material appears to be (based on a series of rapid drop-tests) quite sturdy.
The pack I have contains ten bases, with a number of variations on the fieldstone basic. Included in this are skulls, little piles of rubble and patches of weeds. The detail is well-sculpted and neatly cast. I couldn't find any bubbles on the bases provided.
Also at the same stand, but not in their catalogue, is a selection of white metal accessories. The pack I have contains five scabbarded swords and six backpacks. Very neatly done.
The final item is a humorous vignette, "The Alien in the Loo". It is a white-metal casting of a half-bodied alien sitting in a toilet bowl, waiting to be flushed. The remainder of the vignette is a corner of the bathroom, complete with a toilet roll lying on the floor.
Commentary: Neat resin bases and other accessories in white metal.
