Black Scorpion Miniatures

United Kingdom

Napoleonic Peninsular foot
As Delivered

Barrett Scale: 29½M.
Mixes best with: Devil Dog Designs.
Long Review: I happened to see Black Scorpion at SELWG 2006, and as they had single figures sitting in a bin, I purchased this one as a sample. Judging by the crowd around the stand, they must be fairly popular.
Based on all the news footage and photos I've seen to date, the figures look quite representative of modern US troops. The sample I have is wearing light kit (kneepads and sand goggles on the helmet) and is armed with an M16.
Judging by the sample, the rest of the range should be quite decent too. There is some flash, but not an excessive amount. The sculpting is clearly defined, and should paint up well.
Commentary: Since I started adding to the Moderns pages, I'm looking at Modern figures in a different light. From what I've seen, these are a tad larger than the majority of UK-based manufacturers, This means that they will not blend in with the likes of Brooks Miniatures perfectly, but as the weapons appear reasonably close in size, the somewhat larger size would then allow their use as "beefier" Americans.
Historical Accuracy: Four Average.
Pose Quality: Four Average.
Sculpting: Four Average.
Casting: Four Average. There is a little mould slippage and some cleaning, but not excessively so.
Sources: Single figure purchased at SELWG 2006.
Sculptors: Unknown.
