Long Review: | The first impression on opening the box was "Whoa- is this for real or did he shrink down a plastic model?". The sheer detail of the kits is incredible. The basic hull is cast in a creamy resin with no mould-plugs to remove, and all the other bits are supplied in white metal with neglegible flash. I must admit (being a novice to post-WW2 kit) that I was slightly puzzled by some of the parts until I had a look on the website, where I found a nice, clear set of instructions on how to assemble the model. Once I found that, everything fell into place with pleasing ease. Included in the kit is a commander (a half-figure made to fit into one of the hatches). Also included in the package was a set of decals from Dom's Decals, made especially for the range. I will be adding a proper review of these later (once I've assembled and painted the Chieftain samples). All in all, though, I'd say that the kits are worth every penny, and I certainly look forward to seeing the other items produced, especially because many of them are not available elsewhere yet. |
Commentary: | Ian's had a rough start with Chieftain Models, caused by a number of factors outside his control. As the vehicles has completed are extremely well-done and presented at affordable prices (as well as covering a neglected period), I hope that he will now continue to expand the range. |
