Long Review: | When the SAS and LRDG received their Jeeps, the first thing they did is add guns. This model has them- lots of them. The weapons included in this little gem range from a .50 MG to several variations on K-guns and Lewis guns. In addition to this, there are loads of stowage items and two crewmen (apparently taken randomly from a series of these, so in theory your jeeps need not look the same unless you have some bad luck. The parts (did I mention there are loads of them?) are all well-cast, with minimal flash and sprue on them, and the fact that the whole kit is metal means that quite a few areas are thinner than conventional resin casting would have allowed, while retaining an astonishing degree of strength. There are no instructions included in the kit, but they are available for download from the Chieftain Models website. They take the form of what appears to be about a page of clear drawings and instructions. |
Commentary: | Ian's had a rough start with Chieftain Models, caused by a number of factors outside his control. As the vehicles has completed are extremely well-done and presented at affordable prices (as well as covering a neglected period), I hope that he will now continue to expand the range. |
