|Long Review:||Wow. I was speechless when I first examined the parts of this truck. It's heavy. I mean HEAVY. The entire kit is white metal, instead of a resin body and other bits with white metal accessories. I'd say it weighs about half as much again as the already weighty e-Bob Opel Blitz.
The Lancia 3RO 7-ton truck can be used by just about every European country, including Spain in the SCW, Italian civilians and, of course, the Italian army in North Africa.
This beast comes as a loadbed (sides already attached) and a cab/bonnet assembly in one piece, with a seperate roof, two steps and mudguards for the rear wheels. The driveshaft, suspension and headlights complete this kit.
I must admit that I will be getting more of these (I have some Spanish troops, Italian Paratroopers and Beraglieri needing transport). This is a really useful addition to the inter-war/WW2 transport selection.
There are no instructions included in the kit, but they are available for download from the Chieftain Models website. They take the form of what appears to be about a page of clear drawings and instructions.
|Commentary:||Ian's had a rough start with Chieftain Models, caused by a number of factors outside his control. As the vehicles has completed are extremely well-done and presented at affordable prices (as well as covering a neglected period), I hope that he will now continue to expand the range.|
