Long Review: | I happened to see Black Scorpion at SELWG 2006, and as they had single figures sitting in a bin, I purchased this one as a sample. Judging by the crowd around the stand, they must be fairly popular. The figure seems a blend of historical and a small degree of Hollywood. The single figure I have is wearing a coat and Stetson, and is firing his left pistol from waist-height. The right pistol is pointing at the ground, ready to be lifted and fired. Judging by the sample, the rest of the range should be quite decent too. There is some flash, but not an excessive amount. The sculpting is clearly defined, and should paint up well. |
Commentary: | What can I say? Based on the single sample I have, the figures are neat and cleanly sculpted, with little in the way of distracting flash or bad moulding. Certainly a range I plan to look at in more detail one day, samples permitting. Yet another period which has thus far held little attraction for me. However, after seeing the TV series Firefly and looking for figures suitable for this, these figures jumped out as near-perfect, especially as a large proportion are wearing the long dusters that look so much like the famous brown coats worn by the defeated rebels. |
