Crusader Miniatures

United Kingdom

Byzantine spearman, as delivered
As Delivered

Barrett Scale: 26M.
Mixes best with: Most of the larger ranges (e.g. Gripping Beast or Black Tree Designs)
Long Review: In common with all of the other Crusader Miniatures figures I own, these are cleanly sculpted and cast. There is almost no visible mould line on most of the figures, and the poses are fairly standard, although one or two are a little stiff.
Commentary: Serviceable figures, but a little bland.
Historical Accuracy: Five Good. The overall look is pretty good, and it compares favourably with reconstructions of Byzantines I've seen.
Pose Quality: Four Average. Mainly standard poses, although a number of them are going to be difficult to fit into units.
Sculpting: Four Safe. There are no adventurous poses, and all are pretty neatly done. The detail is sufficielty well-defined that it will be easy to paint.
Casting: Five Neat. No major mould lines or runnels, no pitting or misaligned parts.
Sources: Items purchased for own collection.
Sculptors: Mark Sims
